South East Coast Ambulance Deploys Tripleplay Digital Signage & IPTV within new HQ
In May 2017, South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) moved to their new HQ in Crawley, combining their Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) into one, fit-for purpose building. VEGA Europe were asked to advise on a digital signage solution to cover the EOC. Information had to be displayed on screens which was visible to all staff throughout, as well as the capability to function 24/7.
The key required elements included the ability to display different sources of information as well as live call queue performance, the Trusts internal 999 performance stats, BBC news channels (with subtitles) and a scrolling ticker tape accessing local weather and news feeds. It was also important that the system was capable of integrating with the fire alarm system to provide a visible warning onto the screens throughout the centre.
The number of digital signage screens and content types could change in coming years, therefore the need to ensure the system was scalable to expand easily was a key factor.
VEGA designed and specified a solution using the Tripleplay Digital Signage software presented on 70” NEC large format professional displays. To further enhance the solution, SECAmb visited VEGA’s newly expanded office on the Manor Royal, where they saw a live demonstration of the Tripleplay software.
With 81 desks organised in clusters throughout the department, screens were positioned in areas relevant to each departmental function. With the EOC running 24/7, NEC displays were chosen as the most reliable screen for this capability.
Selecting Tripleplay allowed for integration with IPTV and the SECAmb Telephony switch, which graphically represents the call statistics. The Tripleplay solution is designed for ease of use, creating a simple platform to create and update content. The flexibility of the software platform allows a rich medium of different content formats to be displayed on multiple displays.
The opening and go-live of the operation was based on a very strict schedule and tight time scale due to the business’s critical nature of the facility. VEGA rose to the challenge and delivered the solution within 2 weeks, start to finish.
